Medical Aid
Can I use my medical aid to pay for contact lenses?
We does not process payments directly through medical aid schemes. However, most South African medical aids allow you to claim back contact lens purchases under your available optical or medical savings benefits.
Are you registered with medical aid providers?
Yes. We are registered with major South African medical aid providers and optometry practices, allowing you to submit your invoice for reimbursement directly to your scheme.
How do I claim from my medical aid?
To claim from your medical aid:
Complete your order as normal on Lensify
Fill in the medical aid member details at checkout
Once your order is complete, you’ll receive a VAT invoice
Submit this invoice to your medical aid for reimbursement
Each medical aid has its own claim process, so reimbursement timelines may vary.
Will my medical aid cover the full cost?
Coverage depends entirely on your medical aid plan and available benefits. Some schemes cover contact lenses in full, while others only cover a portion – or may require you to use medical savings.
We cannot guarantee full or partial reimbursement.
How can I check if my lenses are covered?
We recommend contacting your medical aid provider directly before placing your order to confirm:
Whether contact lenses are covered
How much is available in your benefits
Whether pre-authorisation is required
What information do I need to provide at checkout?
You’ll be asked to provide:
Medical aid provider
Medical aid plan
Medical aid number
SA ID number
- Date of birth
This ensures your invoice includes all the details your medical aid may require.
Can I submit a claim without a prescription?
Most medical aids require a valid prescription (usually not older than 12 months) to approve a claim. If your order includes prescription lenses, please make sure your prescription is uploaded or confirmed.
How long does reimbursement take?
Reimbursement timelines are set by your medical aid provider and can range from a few days to several weeks. We have no control over processing times once the claim is submitted.
Can Lensify submit the claim on my behalf?
At this stage, claims must be submitted by the member directly to their medical aid. We provide all required documentation to make the process as simple as possible.
Ordering
How do I place an order on Lensify?
Choose your lens brand, select your pack size, enter your prescription details & upload a valid prescription not older than 12 months. Add to cart and checkout.
If you need help, feel free to contact us and we’ll happily guide you through it.
How do I reorder my contact lenses?
Log into your account, go to My Account → Orders, and use the Reorder option to add the same items back to your cart. Adjust your prescription or quantity if needed.
I wear a different prescription in each eye - how do I order?
On the product page, enter Right Eye and Left Eye details separately (Sphere, BC, DIA, etc.).
If you’re buying two different brands, add the right-eye brand first, then add the left-eye brand as a second product.
Can I order two different brands (one for each eye)?
Yes. Add the first brand and prescription to your cart, then return to the shop and add the second brand and prescription.
Can I change my order after placing it?
If your order hasn’t been processed or shipped yet, contact us as soon as possible and we’ll do our best to assist. Once shipped, changes are usually not possible.
Do you price match?
If you find the same lens brand, pack size, and prescription range cheaper elsewhere (including delivery), send us the link or a screenshot and we’ll review it. Terms and conditions apply.
Prescription & eye safety
Do I need a prescription to buy contact lenses?
Yes. Contact lenses should always be worn with a valid prescription from an optometrist.
We may request or verify prescription details with your optometrist to ensure you receive the correct lenses.
How do I reorder my contact lenses?
You may find key details on your lens box (brand, base curve, diameter, power).
If you’re unsure, upload what you have and we’ll help identify what’s missing.
I wear a different prescription in each eye - how do I order?
Yes. You can upload a clear photo or PDF of your prescription during checkout or on the product page (where available).
Please ensure your prescription is no older than 12 months.
Can I switch to a new lens brand I haven’t worn before?
It’s not recommended to switch brands or lens types without consulting with your optometrist first, as lenses differ in material, size, and fit.
Can I swim with contact lenses?
It’s best to avoid swimming with contact lenses. Water can trap bacteria between the lens and your eye and increase the risk of infection.
How many hours a day can I wear contact lenses?
This depends on your lens type and your eyes. Always follow your optometrist’s advice. If you experience discomfort, remove your lenses and seek professional advice.
Delivery & tracking
How long does delivery take?
Orders are processed once prescription details are confirmed. Delivery times vary depending on location and stock availability. If an item is out of stock, we’ll notify you as soon as possible.
How much does delivery cost?
We offer free delivery on orders over R900. Orders under this value are charged a standard delivery fee, which is shown at checkout.
Do you deliver nationwide in South Africa?
Yes, we deliver nationwide via trusted courier partners, subject to serviceable areas.
How do I track my order?
Once your order has been dispatched, you’ll receive a tracking link via email. Tracking details are also available in My Account → Orders.
What if my order is delayed?
We sincerely apologise if your order is taking longer than expected.
Should your order take longer than 7 business days, it may be on backorder with the supplier. We will aim to update you should this be the case.
For any order delays, you are welcome to contact us and we will check the latest status on your order.
